Artist's Comments

Phew! Just whipped this one up - my first shot at a running animation. I'm pretty happy with it in general but there's a few things that bug me:
1. The head is drawn inconsistently and wobbles about a bit - I just didn't pay it enough attention when scribbling these roughs.
2. The tail moves funny, isn't flowy enough.
3. The back legs appear twinny.

Can you see anything else? All crit appreciated :D

Wow, absolutely stunning. 83; The flow is very nice. xD The only problem I can see is that the tail doesn't flow as well as the running, and it twitches a bit. nn; Besides that, this is great. n___n ~

Yup that's right, flowy tail is on my list of fixes to do. Really that's all? Aw thanks! ^-^

This one's pretty good! It moves a lot more smoothly and looks more natural. :D I see what you mean about the tail, but the head looks fine to me. What do you mean by "twinny" for the back legs, though? For me, they look like they kind of ...don't move very much or something. They seem like they almost stay perfectly together like a rabbit's hind legs when they should be a bit more free like the front legs, if that's even the right word. And maybe the hind legs could stretch out a little more when they are at their highest point, if thay makes any sense at all, cuz right now the feet stay curled up and it seems weird to me.

Just a suggestion of course, but I'm sure you really know a lot more about anatomy than I do, so don't listen to me too much. ^^; I really do love this animation, though; call me an oddball, but seeing the way the fox's back rolls so smoothly when it runs makes me happy. XD

Thanks so much! I'm glad you think so :D
Yep that's what I mean about the back legs, how they look like they're staying together when they should be moving separately =] I'm glad you can see it too. That's a really good idea, to stretch them out more! I will do that, it's bound to make a positive difference. ^-^
THANKS for your advice!! :glomp:
Lol! Rolly backs are fun to watch xD

Very impressive. Running animals are VERY tricky to do (or so I've read). The secret is to concentrate mostly on the eyes' motions, since that is what a people look at first when they see a drawing or animation. You want to make sure they move up and down consistently, not bounce around all over the place (it's pretty noticable). Read "The Animator's Survival Kit" to see what I'm talking about.
